This is a rare book from the Berkelouw Rare Books Department.
A magnificent view of Sydney from the Entrance of Port Jackson, the Town of Sydney, to the Country between Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Issued by Alecto Historical Editions in association with the State Library of New South Wales in 1988 in a strictly limited edition of 100 numbered copies only, printed in colours from the original copper plates engraved by Robert Havell & Son in 1823, and hand-finished in watercolour. The Panorama itself is magnificently mounted and framed behind glass, measuring 86 x 34 inches; and is accompanied in a captioned buckram portfolio by a separate title-page, an introduction by Elizabeth Imashev, a colophon page, facs. of the orig. prospectus, the order form, and the original invitation to the launch of this view. The Panorama was offered at a pre-publication price of $5000, and was heavily oversubscribed before publication. In addition thereto the elegant framing costs would not have been insubstantial. Now offered, entirely complete and as described. NOTE: James Taylor arrived in Sydney with his regiment, the 48th (Northamptonshire) Foot, on the ""Matilda"
