First Edition, limited to 50 numbered copies fully signed 'Brett Whiteley' together with an original signed etching bearing the same number as the book. Fine. Copy II: The Publisher's Dummy Copy of the above book, containing original art work, annotations, ephemera, etc. Melbourne: Gryphon Books, (1979). 4to. Orig. full black calf with white calf title-inlay on front cover. comprising of an oval illustrated colophon inside front cover; mounted inscription and address in manuscript of Richard Gryphon (Richard Griffin, the publisher); original illustrated title-page bearing the signature of Brett Whiteley as well as pencil notes; an original 2 page letter from the author outlining the contractual arrangements for this publication; four leaves of manuscript instructions; plus the 38 captioned illusts issued. This Publisher's copy was subsequently produced as a limited edition, and is an extremely unique artistic and bibliographic record of Whiteley's work. Copy III: ZOO: Monkey House-Eight Portraits. By Richard Griffin. With a lengthy manuscript note: 'Proof Pages Only. This slim volume is made up from proofs of a series of eight drawings done by Brett Whiteley for the special copies of Zoo: One drawing to go into each of 8 copies numbered 1-8. I intended to re-produce the eight drawings in each of the 50 specials of 'Zoo'. For various reasons the main one being that the facsimile re-productions looked too large and were in reverse I decided to leave them out. I have bound these proof sheets printed on Bembolea handmade paper by hand in Balinese Batik and used Brett's first rough sketch as a title page. These sheets are not intended for publication.
