NOTE: Ivan Noel Dougherty was Commanding Officer of the 2/4th Australian Infantry Battalion, 6th Division in the Western Desert, Greece and Crete in 1941. In 1942 he was given command of the 21st Infantry Brigade, which fought in New Guinea and Borneo.
