You are invited to meet Tim Elliott when he introduces Farewell to the Father.

Growing up in 1970s Sydney, Tim Elliott had a loving stay-at-home mum, a professional father, three siblings, a private school education and endless opportunities to fish and surf at the nearby beaches.

But his was not the idyllic childhood it appeared. A charismatic, well-respected doctor by day, Tim's father became a roaring madman at night.

Tim Elliott's memoir is an extraordinary story of growing up with a parent afflicted by mental illness: a complex elegy, powerfully told, loaded with love, rage and surprising humour. It is about the measures children will take to protect themselves - and their families - from shame or harm, and how adapting to that adversity becomes an intractable part of who we are as adults.

Join us when Tim Elliott is our guest at 6.30pm on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016.

Bookings are essential and can be made online by following this link (fees apply), by phone on 9979 2112 or by email to monavale@berkelouw.com.au.

Cost is $ 12.00, $ 5.00 of which will be credited against any purchases made on the evening.
