Encased in fine red solander box with silver ribbon (light foxing on inside of case). Silver-dec. spine with red morocco title-labels and raised bands. (x pp. 151-380). With 56 full-page col plates 14 full-page b/w plates distribution maps and text-illusts. Limited edition of 1000 copies this being No. 554 and signed by the author and illustrator. Extensive rubbing to gilt writing on spine and light foxing on front and back end-papers otherwise a near fine copy. NOTE: Joseph Forshaw is an Australian expert on parrots. He has produced several ornithological works with artist William Cooper.
