Maconochie; and (4) Chart of Forestier's and Tasman's Peninsula V.D.L. F.4288. Contents fine and complete. NOTE: This important paper records a series of despatches relating to convict discipline from July 1838 to March 1843 and is divided into three parts; Pt.1 includes material on Maconochie and Norfolk Island; Pt.2 deals with convict discipline in N.S.W. and V.D.L. and includes a report from Lieut.-Gov. Franklin to Lord Stanley on the Probation System. There is a highly important letter from Gov. Gipps to Stanley re Maconochie and Norfolk Island; Pt.3 deals mainly with convict descipline in V.D.L. Of the utmost importance and extremely scarce.
