The Committee (comprising seven people) met Tuesday 16 April 1907 to consider the expediency of constructing a line of Electric Tramway from Drummoyne to Epping via Gladesville Ryde and the Field of Mars. Original manuscript written in a clear hand and comprising 24pp. f'scap folio with evidence and submissions presented by various professionals. Previous folds brittle but entirely complete and legible. NOTE: Sydney Albert Benson was born in Ryde and was an Alderman of Ryde Council for 16 years serving a term as Mayor. It was during this period that negotiations to provide the suburb with a tram service was completed. ADDED: Contemp. assoc. newspaper clippings relating to the Benson family.
