This is a rare or used book from the Berkelouw Rare Books Department.
Leiden: Dammeano 1769. 2 vols. Thick 4to. Orig. full old calf (spines worn but holding). With woodblock title-vignettes and engrv. tail-pieces. Subscribers copy signed "J.C. Hoogeveen". Previous owners details and bookplate on front end-papers. Associated letter loosely inserted in Volume I. Contents fine and complete. NOTE: Hoogeveen earned some fame as editor of Vigerus's De idiotismus but his main importance lies in the monumental work on the Greek particles on which he worked for 16 years. It did not deserve the fate of being mainly known in the epitomised ed. of Schutz - Wyttenbach praised him (Opusch. I 563) Harles described him (Vita philol. III 114).
