London: John Van Voorst 1873. Tall slim 4to. Contemp. full oasis. Gilt panels on both covers. Spine extra gilt and with raised bands. Inside dentelles. T.e.g. other edges uncut. Marbled endpapers. (2 x 172pp.). With 28 full-page coloured chromolithograph plates. The orig. gilt illustrated cloth binding has been neatly mounted and bound-in at end of text. Fine and complete. NOTE: Wood pp. 549/550 does not cite the First Edition but notes the issue here offered stating "This is the 'best edition' the plates of the first issue having been redrawn and several new ones added. The work is regarded as the authority on falconry the illustrations being most interesting and informing".
