With 12 tipped-in coloured chromo-lithograph plates including frontisp. and numerous text-illusts of which some full-page by G. Autoriello. Previous owners signature on half title-page. A fine complete copy now rare. NOTE: This work edited by W. Curnow then Editor of The Sydney Morning Herald was to obtain for James membership of the prestigious Linnean Society of London on nomination Baron von Mueller and J.H. Maiden. He was also awarded a gold medal from the Horticultural Society of N.S.W. for the best essay on Roses which appeared in this work.
