Sydney: Thomas Richards 1866. Sm. 4to. Orig. full polished calf with bevelled boards. Gilt borders on both front & rear covers. Spine titled (extremities slightly rubbed). E.g. (vi 90pp.). Title printed in colour with the vignette representing the Australian coat-of-arms emblem magnificently coloured and illuminated. With 4 illustrations. Text printed within a coloured border and with col. head & tail-piece text-figs. 1st ed. A fine example of early Australian binding. NOTE: Kamilaroi was the language of the Aborigines of the Namoi Barwon Bundarra and Balonne Rivers and of Liverpool Plains and the Upper Hunter; Dippil was the language of the Aborigines about Durundurun on the north side of Moreton Bay and thence towards Wide Bay and the Burnett District; Turrubul was the language on the Brisbane River.
