London: Richard Bentley 1852. 8vo. Contemp. hf. calf over marbled paper boards. Spines uniformly rebacked to match. With 15 tinted full-page lithographic plates. Some foxing otherwise a good complete set of this classic work bearing a 1853 inscription on verso of front fly-leaves. A notable work of Australian travel literature and one of the fist eye-witness accounts of the gold fields. Mundy's very early account of the gold discovery and of a trip to Ophir in July 1851 concludes the third volume. In addition three of his fine lithographs show scenes at the diggings drawn within two months of the first rush making this one of the earliest artistic records of the gold fields.
