Holland and the Spicy Islands)....London: Printed by Henry Hughs a.o. 1798-1800. Thick 4to. Orig. full diced calf (hinges rubbed & weak but holding). Spine gilt and with raised bands. Marbled end-papers. With 2 engrv. frontispieces 3 fold. engrv. maps 2 head-piece text-illusts and 19 full-page engrv. plates. 1st edition. Fine and complete. NOTE: Thomas Pennant was a Welsh naturalist and prolific travel writer. These four volumes were part of a projected fourteen volume work The Outline of the Globe but owing to the death of the author the work was never completed. Vol. IV covering Australia (New Holland) and the South East Asia Archipelago is particularly rare.
