Sydney: Privately printed by Harry F. Chaplin 1953. Small quarto bound in original quarter oasis over marbled paper boards. Spine titled in gilt. With 2 original tipped-in "proof" etched portraits by Lionel Lindsay. Edition limited to 50 numbered presentation copies on goatskin parchment fully signed "H. Chaplin". Written between 1900 and 1903 the fifteen poems are a "thoughtful and controlled" protest against the Boer War and a product of Brennan's "great period" (Foreword). The work is complemented by two portraits of the enigmatic Australian poet and academic etched from life by his artist friend Lionel Lindsay.
