London: Printed for Vernor Hood and Sharpe; ... 1811. 8vo. Orig. full green straight-grain morocco with gilt borders and dec. blind tooling on all covers (spines discoloured; edges slightly rubbed). Spines uniformly gilt and with raised bands. All edges gilt. Inside dentelles. With engrv. frontispiece additional engrv. title-page with vignette and portrait. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown of each volume. Some foxing especially to endpapers; rear fly-leaf of Vol. 1 and front fly-leaf of Vol. 2 detached from spine but present. Adorned under the gilt of each volume is a very nice double fore-edge painting. On Volume 1 is a hunting scene with three men in red coats on horseback; when viewed from the other direction the picture is of a man fishing by a lake. Volume 2 shows a country road with a carriage and horses; from the other direction one sees a man fishing from a boat on a lake. All four illustrations are fine and brightly coloured.
