Edinburgh: William Blackwood & Sons 1849. Sm. 8vo. Orig. full dark brown morocco (some minor edge wear) with ornamental borders and decorations in gilt. Spine extra gilt and with raised bands. A.e.g. (6 iv 326pp.). With additional engraved title-page. Hinges weak. Some foxing to prelims and a water stain to lower corner of title page otherwise fine. Adorned under the gilt of the fore-edge is a fine painting in green blue and brown hues depicting a landscape (possibly Italian) with a castle and tower trees a river and a milkmaid herding her cows across an arched bridge.
