With engraved frontispiece of "Arthur Phillip Esq." title-vignette and 55 copper engraved plates including 7 fold-out maps. Previous owner's name German Theologian Johannes Miller (1750-1814) on title page. Foxing browning offsetting and staining throughout (quite heavy in places). Missing ''List of Plates'' otherwise in very good condition. NOTE: "This was the first authentic and official account of the expedition to New South Wales and the foundation of the settlement. It aroused world-wide interest ". (Ferguson 47 Hill p.233).
