London: Smith Elder & Co. 1905. Thick Royal 8vo. Orig. blue ribbed cloth with gilt crested insignia on front covers. Spines gilt titled (slightly rubbed). Top edge gilt other edges uncut. With 2 frontispieces accompanied by tissue-guards 5 charts of which 2 are folded into end-pockets 12 full-page coloured plates from watercolours by Dr E.A. Wilson panoramas and numerous full-page plates. Advertisment slip tipped-in at front of Vol. I. Title-pages printed in red/black. The neat blind-stamp of St Stephens Club Westminster on title-page of each volume otherwise an excellent complete set of the First Edition: 2nd Impression with the re-issued title-pages of November 1905. Spence 1051. NOTE: Reportedly only 500 copies of the Second Impression of the First Edition were issued of which half were published by Smith Elder & Co. and half by John Murray. This set comprises the first issue whilst the Murray imprint of the same year constitutes the second issue. Extremely rare.
