With 5 maps one of which is folded 6 colour plates 42 black and white plates and 33 photographic plates. Uncut. The first complete U.S. edition entirely printed in America. NOTE: A U.S. copyright issue was privately issued by George H. Doran Company in New York in 1923 using the sheets of the British Constable edition for the purpose of securing American copyright. The true first complete U.S. printing did not occur until 1930 when Lincoln MacVeagh at the Dial Press in New York issued the one volume edition here offered.
