Spine with raised bands & morocco titling-label (worn at lower extremities). One contemp. brass clasp only on the outer edge of front cover. Printer's device on title-page and woodcut chapter headings & initials. Each chapter contains the Greek text as well as the parallel Latin translation including an extensive commentary. This Anuce Foes (Anutius Foesius 1528-1595) edition produced after more than 30 years hard work was to remain the foremost text for 250 years. The Greek physician Hippocrates (460-370 B.C.) a man of high character and noble ideals know as 'Father of Medicine' is said to have devised a code of medical ethics now administered as an oath (Hippocratic oath) to those entering medical practice. Some contemp. manuscript names on title-page otherwise fine. Desirable in its original state.
