Gift inscription on front end-paper. Frontispiece and title-page foxed and toned otherwise a very good copy of the 1st English edition. NOTE: William Tell was an expert marksman with a cross bow and according to medieval legend inspired the rebellion against the Austrians which led to the formation of the Swiss Confederation.
